Free West Papua: 5 Songs Supporting The People

For many of us, West Papua is at the other side of the world, isolated and unknown. For others, the place is a well known human rights violation pit. Throughout the recent history of this occupied piece of land the people there have seen around half a million of their fellow natives be killed.

The fight is ongoing and the West Papua people ‘will not rest‘ until they are granted a referendum from Indonesia.

The occupied territory has long been put into song to support the people. Here are five songs titled ‘Free West Papua’.

Anti-Fascist, Anti-Racist Metal Music Compilation Album

The title above says it all. This is a compilation album put together by Blackened Death Records in the UK and according what the organisers write on their Bandcamp page they believe that metal music is for everyone. We here at Shouts concur.

“Let’s knock fascism on its ass, spread some metal, and get medical aid to those who desperately need it.”

100% of the proceeds from the sale of this album go to Doctors Without Borders.

Montaigne uses her voice to protest a multinational conglomerate

Montaigne is only 23 years old but already she has achieved raising her mind to a level of becoming vegan and using her powerful voice responsibly to protest destructive corporations and multinational conglomerates. And as if that was not enough to ask of a young woman then she has also released a music album that reached nr. 4 on the Australian charts.

When interviewed at the 2018 ARIA Awards she said that she has become aware of her platform that she has through her music which she uses to talk about what matters to her and what she finds important that everyone gets more aware of.

For more information about the #StopAdani campaign check out their webpage and get involved if possible. While doing so, you could do worse than listening to this live version of Montaigne’s song I Am Not An End.
